Network Security Paranoia Part 2

Once again to keep my current Comptia Security+ certification current, I must earn Continuing Education Unit’s. One of the ways to earn a unit is to write a blog every once in a while. My former blog Was about a paranoid technician, and how he explains some of the mechanics to secure the actual software and the physical hardware of his server. Although nothing is totally secure, this is what he came up with as the best way to make his server and network hack free. Feel free to post any suggestions under this blog. The server will be located in a secure room behind a first door with a cipher lock, in addition to a second door with a proximity reader on it, which will create a mantrap. Both the cipher lock and proximity reader will change codes every three months. Once the server room is entered, there is a log book that must be signed to mark the date and time anyone enters and leaves the room. The keyboard, monitor, and mouse assemble will be locked faced down with a lock and key. To log into the server a user will have to sign in with a retina scan, finger print scan or biometric coprocessor, and by using a smart card causing a multifactor login. The server will be running Windows 2008 Server and the hard drive will be encrypted with bitlocker. All USB ports will be disabled as well, so that no portable drives will be able to attach to it. The backup procedure is using the grandfather, father, son schema. A full backup runs weekly, and differential backups are run each day. The server uses the latest version of Backup Exec and all tapes are encrypted via backup exec, in the event that a tape is lost and recovered by a stranger. This server is used as an email server running exchange 2010 and the public key infrastructure is using public-key cryptography. This is in place on the network so that when a public key is used to encrypt or lock a message, only the complementary private key can unlock or decrypt that message. This will use the RSA algorithms, also allowing the authenticity of a message to be checked by creating a digital signature of a message using the private key, which can then be verified by using the public key. This network will practice using only a hash of the message which is typically encrypted for signature verification purposes, using the hash function MD5 (Message Digest 5). Once a week, a vulnerability scan will take place using E-eye retina which of course involves updating the stig first. All patches will take place directly after the scan. Every 3 months after business hours, the server will be off-line so a penetration test can take place to identify any open holes. A protocol analyzer will also be run like wireshark or tcpip view, and all open ports will be closed and secure. All unused network jacks in the building, and all unused ports on the switch leading to this sever, will be shut off using port security. Once again if any technicians out there happen to search and read this, please feel free to suggest and post anything else, or, if you see something wrong in this blog please post the correction. Thanks for taking the time to read my blog. How hack proof is this. Please comment. I want to see what everyone things. I understand nothing is hack proof but I wold like to see how people would get around all of this? Johnny Paoline 10/26/16

I won my 2nd Tournament ever yesterday. My final weight was 16.2 pounds

Hi everyone yesterday 1/17/09 was our first Orlando bass club tournament of the year. Hell what a start!! I won it with my 5 fish limit weighing 16.2 Lbs. This was my biggest bag yet in tournament bass fishing and my 2nd tourny that I ever won. I caught two 5 plus pounders in a row around 1 pm and that did it for me. Check for pictures of these two fish, on our clubs site. the will eventually be up there.

Fluorocarbon fishing line test

I love using fluorocarbon line on my spinning reels. At times when flipping the bale the line just comes off the spool and can get tangled due to all the memory in the line. It’s worse then getting a bird’s nest on a bait caster. I did a test this week. I took two identical Abu Garcia 6.6 ft medium heavy rods with Daiwa Sweepfire – A 2000 spinning reels on them both. I spooled them up with several types of 10lb test fluorocarbon lines. I got straight up 100% fluorocarbon line’s that were straight up clear not that junk that is yellow and supposed to disappear when it hits water. I tried every brand of line that was on the shelf at the Orlando Bass Pro Shops. I tied a drop shot on them both and started casting. I was testing to see which line casts the best and which line stayed on when the bale was flipped prior to casting. It came down to two brands that worked best on this rod and reel combo and they were Seaguar and Spider Wire. Although they both casts relativity the same but Seaguar came off the bale a time or two prior to casting. The winner and not by much was SpiderWire’s ultracast 100% fluorocarbon. This stuff never came off the bale or tangled at all after making over 25 casts in a row. This stuff is great and sold me so I will try it out this upcoming season.

My first recording Macabre - Interment

My First Recording Macabre - Interment

Here is my very first demo that I recorded with Mortal Decay in March of 1991. This was never released outside of the 200 demo tapes we made. We were still called Macabre then and the demo was called Interment. My voice sounded horrible. At times I sound like a barking dog, but it's cool because as you play along all the way up to the Forensic album you can hear the potential in my voice and how I progressed with the times.

My Acting Demo Reel

Here is my acting demo reel. This consists of the films “The Worst Horror Movie Ever Made”, “Stereotypes Don't Just Disappear Into Thin Air”, Chopcore – “Your Dream My Loss” and some live Mortal Decay video footage.

You can rent The Worst Horror Movie Ever Made from netflix. Click the link below.
